AAMU Seeks Home Victory Against Texas Southern

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team continues its three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) homestand as the Bulldogs welcome Texas Southern to the AAMU Event Center on Saturday. Tip-off against the Tigers is set for 4 p.m. and streamed on Bulldogs All-Access.
 
Alabama A&M (6-12 overall, 2-3 SWAC) will look to snap a three-game losing streak after opening conference play with back-to-back victories. The Bulldogs are also seeking to end a 21-game skid to Texas Southern, having not beaten the Tigers since a 73-58 victory on March 3, 2008. 
 
AAMU opened its homestand last Saturday, leading by 13 points at the break, but were outscored, 45-28, in the second half in falling to rival Alabama State, 69-65. 
 
AC Bryant continued to lead the offense as the junior guard posted his second consecutive double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Alabama A&M is averaging 75.8 points per game and shooting 41.0 percent from the field. 
 
The Bulldogs rank fourth nationally in offensive rebounds per game and ninth in turnovers forced per game.
 
AC Bryant leads two Bulldog players in double figures, averaging 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals, while Chad Moodie has posted 11.2 points, 5.6 boards, 1.9 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. 
 
Texas Southern (7-11, 4-1) are riding a four-game winning streak after beginning conference play with a loss to Southern.
 
The Tigers, who are just 1-9 on the road this season, enter off back-to-back home victories over Alcorn State and Jackson State.
 
In the 81-73 win over JSU on Monday, TSU had three players in double figures, led by Kavion McClain with 20 points. Duane Posey added 15 points and Jaylen Wysinger tossed in 10.
 
McClain leads two Tiger players in double figures at 13.7 points, 4.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals. Zaire Hayes is averaging 10.0 points, 1.8 boards and 1.4 assists.
 
Texas Southern is shooting 42.1 percent from the floor and averaging 72.5 points per game.
 
After Saturday's game, the Bulldogs will close out the three-game homestand on Monday night against Prairie View A&M. Tip-off against the Panthers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and streamed on Bulldogs All-Access.
