Carson Vinson added another achievement on Wednesay as he was selected to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) 27
thAnnual Academic All-Star Team.
Vinson was among 54 student-athletes selected to the academic all-star team and was the only member named from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
"These exceptional young men demonstrate excellence not only in their academic pursuits, but also through their dedication on the field," current FCS ADA President, Mark Benson, Director of Athletics at the University of Albany, said. "Annually, we have the privilege of reviewing and selecting remarkable leaders who represent the best of our division, and this year's candidates have continued the tradition. Congratulations to all the nominated student-athletes and to those selected."
Vinson, who has racked up multiple postseason honors including becoming the first HBCU player invited to the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl, AFCA FCS All-America Second Team and Phil Steele 2024 SWAC Offensive Lineman of the Year, started in all 48 games for the Bulldogs.
The Morrisville, N.C. native has helped the Bulldog offense rank tops in the SWAC in total offense (444.5 yards per game) and passing offense (260.5 yards per game). In addition, the Bulldogs are third in the conference in rushing offense at 184.0 yards per game. He has an 89 percent overall offensive line grade with 61 total knockdowns and allowed just one sack, which was against SEC opponent Auburn in the season opener.
Football players from all FCS institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.
