THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team surrendered a first-half goal, but nearly battled back as the Bulldogs fell to Texas Southern, 1-0, on Friday morning in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
Texas Southern (4-6-3 overall, 2-1-0 SWAC) broke the scoreless tie in the 25
th minute when Melissa Knuston broke past an AAMU defender down the left wing and crossed the ball into the penalty area, where Clara Dotginy headed home the goal, giving the Tigers the 1-0 advantage.
Both teams had chances in the second half as
Czaske Deane's shot was cleared away at the line by a Texas Southern defender to keep the Tigers in front. TSU twice hit the crossbar in the final minutes but could not put the game away.
