JACKSON, Miss. | The Alabama A&M University volleyball team saw its four-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) winning streak snapped, falling 3-1 to Jackson State on Sunday afternoon from the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
Alabama A&M held on to win the opening set, 25-20, but Jackson State answered claiming victories in the second and third sets, 25-15, and 26-24. The Tigers stormed back from three down in the fourth to win the match, 25-23.
Alabama A&M (13-4 overall, 4-1 SWAC) finished with 49 kills, 46 assists, 33 digs, five service aces and 5.0 total team blocks.
Rayishon Jackman led the Bulldog offense with 17 kills (hitting .395), with seven digs, two assists and two service aces, while
Fatima Ramirez tallied 10 kills, four digs, three assists and one service aces.
Briana Smith and
Kaydee Smith registered 24 and 11 assists, respectively. Defensively,
Kelani Talakai recorded 14 digs.
Jackson State (5-11, 4-2) finished with 57 kills, 54 assists, 43 digs, 13.0 total team blocks and seven service aces.
Jayden James posted a double-double of 23 kills (hitting .556) and 14 digs, while Kyra Dove and Katejion Robinson registered 10 kills each. Naija Gadis added 25 assists and Karys Dove tallied 22.
