BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team was chosen sixth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Preseason Poll, the conference announced at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Wednesday morning during the league's Media Day.
Alabama A&M received 163 points in being selected sixth in the preseason poll, while Bethune-Cookman, with 12 first-place votes, garnered 232 points to claim the top spot. Southern recorded 214 points, followed by Jackson State (208 points), Alabama State (183 points) and Texas Southern (182 points).
Grambling State (151 points) was seventh, followed by Florida A&M (115 points), Prairie View A&M (99 points), Alcorn State (74 points), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (70 points) and Mississippi Valley State (25 points).
The Bulldogs will have a pair of exhibition games in October, starting on the 13
th with the Ballin in Boutwell matchup against Samford, followed by a contest on Oct. 27, hosting UAH in the return of the Mayor's Cup.
Alabama A&M begins the regular season on Nov. 3 with their home opener, playing host to Blue Mountain Christian. AAMU takes to the road just two days later (Nov. 5), visiting Big Ten foe Indiana.
