Kintavious Dozier was named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Basketball Preseason First Team, the conference announced during media day on Wednesday morning at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
Dozier transferred during the offseason to Alabama A&M from SWAC foe Grambling State. While at GSU, the Lanett, Ala. native averaged 12.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 69 games played. He posted a career-high 34 points at Washington State during the 2023-24 season and added a personal-best nine rebounds (vs. Texas Southern and vs Arkansas Baptist) and nine assists (vs. Arkansas Baptist) last season.
Jackson State's Daeshun Ruffin was selected the SWAC Men's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year, while Bethune-Cookman's Doctor Bradley earned Defensive Player of the Year Honors.
Joining Dozier, Ruffin and Bradley on the first team was Southern's Michael Jacobs and Bethune-Cookman's Daniel Rouzan.
Zaire Hayes (Texas Southern), Dorian McMillian (Jackson State), Jordan Chatman (Florida A&M), Seneca Willoughby (Bethune-Cookman) and Micah Simpson (Alabama State) were selected to the second team.
The Alabama A&M men's basketball team will have a pair of exhibition games in October, starting on the 13
th with the Ballin in Boutwell matchup against Samford, followed by a contest on Oct. 27, hosting UAH in the return of the Mayor's Cup.
The Bulldogs begin the regular season on Nov. 3 with their home opener, playing host to Blue Mountain Christian. AAMU takes to the road just two days later (Nov. 5), visiting Big Ten foe Indiana.
