BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team finished in a tie for third in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and will enter next week's tournament as the fourth seed, the conference announced on Saturday.
Alabama A&M (8-8-1) tied Texas Southern for the third spot, but by virtue of the head-to-head matchup, the Bulldogs are the fourth seed as the Tigers defeated AAMU, 1-0, on Oct. 10. Prairie View A&M received the fifth seed after winning the regular-season finale over Texas Southern on Friday.
The conference tournament begins on Thursday at Prairie View A&M University and games will be available to watch on SWAC TV.
Jackson State is the top seed and will open tourney play against eighth-seeded Alabama State at 10 a.m. The Bulldogs and Panthers follow at 1 p.m.
Grambling State, the second seed, is on the bottom side of the bracket and will meet seventh seed Southern at 4 p.m. and Texas Southern, the third seed, closes out the quarterfinal round against sixth seed Alcorn State at 7 p.m.
The semifinals will be Friday, with the championship set for 1 p.m. on Sunday
