PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Czaske Deane, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Offensive Player of the Year, notched the lone goal in the 47
th minute as the Alabama A&M University women's soccer team defeated Prairie View A&M, 1-0, during the quarterfinals of the 2025 women's soccer tournament at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
Alabama A&M (9-8-1) advances to the SWAC Women's Tournament Semifinals and will meet top seed Jackson State at 3 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers advanced to the semifinals by using a strong second half to pull away from Alabama State, 4-0, in the quarterfinals. Prairie View A&M concludes the season 5-11-2.
AAMU and JSU last met on Sept. 26 as the Tigers picked up the 2-0 victory at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
Alabama A&M's best chance in the opening half came in the 44
th minute when
Albany Rios' free kick was pushed over the crossbar and out of play by Prairie View A&M goalkeeper Nenah Jackson, keeping the game tied at 0.
Just one minute and 46 seconds into the second half, Deane, off an assist by Rios, rocketed a shot past Jackson, giving Alabama A&M the 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs nearly doubled the scoreline in the 63
rd minute when
Brea Bailey's shot banged off the bottom of the crossbar and back to Jackson as Alabama A&M remained on top, 1-0.
