BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Amaya Mitchell-Howard won the women's hammer throw to highlight the first day for the Alabama A&M men's and women's outdoor track & field teams at the UAB Invite on Friday at the UAB Track & Field Facility.

Mitchell-Howard tossed a personal-best mark of 50.20m in the hammer throw to win the event.

In the 2000m Steeplechase,
Sanyae Gibson finished second, logging a time of 7:30.19, while Neveah Carrizal placed fourth in 7:37.37.

Ajanae Cressey placed ninth in the javelin throw, posting a mark of 33.30m

On the men's side,
Ezekiel Salama finished third in the hammer throw, with a toss of 49.82m, while teammate
Patrick Adcock was eighth at 42.07m. In the javelin throw,
Andrew Reaves placed ninth, with a toss of 38.71m.
