BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Joshua Graham had a huge day in highlighting the Alabama A&M University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams during the final day of the UAB Spring Invite on Saturday at the UAB Track & Field Facility.
Graham set a new UAB Facility record in the triple jump in winning the event with a leap of 14.70m. With the mark and the victory, Graham moved up the rankings as he is now seventh among HBCUs and 42
nd across NCAA Division I.
Also on the men's side, the 4x100m relay team of
Talil Atkins,
Justin Walker,
Sherman Lattimore and
Dohnavon Hunt won the event, registering a time of 41.15, which ranks No. 14 in HBUC and No. 77 across all NCAA Division I.
WOMEN'S TRACK
- Chelsea Whitehurst set a personal best in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 14:44 to finish fourth
- Victoya Smith finished third in the 100m, registering a time of 12.14
- Brianna Samuels just missed the top spot in the 800m, posting a time of 2:13.76 as teammate Kennedy Hill was eighth in 2:21.40 and Minka Isom just missed a Top 10 spot in 11th at 2:23.23
- Whitehurst finished ninth in the 400m hurdles, logging a time of 1:06.17, which ranks her No. 15 among HBCUs
- The 4x400m relay A team of Hill, Amber Jamison, Samuels and Ajanae Cressey placed seventh in 4:08.21, while the B team of Isom, De'Aisha Stephens, Amaya Joy and Taylor Wingo finished eighth in 4:12.30
WOMEN'S FIELD
- In the long jump, Jamison finished seventh and now ranks among the Top 30 in HBCUs at 5.33m
- Abigail Jefferies posted a throw of 12.47m to finish third in the shot put and moved up to No. 11 among HBCUs, while Amaya Mitchel-Howard claimed eighth in 11.26m
- In the triple jump, Jamison just missed the top spot, finishing second, with a leap of 11.48m, which ranks 16th among HBCUs
MEN'S TRACK
- Bravin Kibitok placed fourth in the 1500m, logging a time of 4:00.80
- In the 100m hurdles, Eric Barker and Emmanuel Murray finished fourth and fifth in 15.14 and 15.16, respectively
- Ryan Johnson and Jahson Gordon were fifth and sixth in the 400m, recording times of 49.19 and 49.28, while Isaac Jackson placed ninth in 50.19
- Talil Atkins finished fifth in the 100m, with a time of 10.86 and just bested teammate Sherman Lattimore, who posted a time of 10.87
- In the 800m, Corey Harris placed fourth in 1:56.00, while Korede Otusajo was sixth in 1:56.74 and Nathaniel Spears 10th in 1:59.09
- Nathan Anderson and Murray went third and fourth in the 400m hurdles, registering times of 55.64 and 57.48
- Atkins just missed the top spot in the 200m, finishing second in 21.45 and is now ranked No. 30 among HBCUs, while Horne placed fifth in21.70
- In the 4x400m, the A team of Jackson, Barker, Spears and Walker placed fifth, with a time of 3:21.31, while the B team of Johnson, Olivier Jean, Donovan Horne and Andrew Reaves finished seventh in 3:25.09
MEN'S FIELD
- In the discus, Ezekiel Salama and Patrick Adcock went sixth and seventh, posting marks of 44.95m and 44.20m, while teammate Bruce Davis placed 10th at 40.27m
- Jean finished second in the long jump, recording a leap of 6.80m and Andre Jones took fourth at 6.77m
- Three placed within the Top 10 in the shot put as Davis and Adcock went second and third, respectively, at 15.38m and 14.32m, while Preston London placed eighth at 12.18m
- Jones placed seventh in the triple jump at 13.05m
- In the pole vault, Corey Harris finished sixth, while Reaves placed eighth in 4.15m and 3.85m, respectively.
