THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University baseball team had its 2025 home opener on Tuesday afternoon, but UT Martin used a four-run fourth inning and cruised to an 11-0 win in seven innings at the Bulldog Baseball Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, UT Martin (5-6) plated a run in the top of the second as Townsend reached on an error and came around to score on a Tommy Koch single, giving the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead.
UTM broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning and scored two more in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh for an 11-0 advantage.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M (2-10) finished with five hits, four errors and stranded seven on base
- Trey Rutledge, Isaac Castro, Christian Soto, AJ Anderson and Xavier O'Neal each recorded one hit
- Charlie Lazo (0-2) took the loss, surrendering one run on four hits and striking out one in three innings
- Edgar Rodriguez, Jordan Nolley and Killian McLaughlin pitched in relief
- UT Martin finished with 11 runs on 11 hits, had one error and left five on base
- TJ Grines went 3-for-4, with a pair of RBI and one run scored
- Tommy Koch and Cameron Greene registered two hits each
- Zach Wagner (1-1) earned the win, scattering four hits, fanning four and walking one in four innings
- Mason Shropshire, Brandon King and Jeb Bartle saw action out of the bullpen
