BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team earned the ninth seed in next week's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Basketball Tournament, presented by Buick, as the Bulldogs will face the No. 8 seed, Grambling State, at 1 p.m. (central time) on Tuesday during the opening round at the Gateway Center.
Alabama A&M finished conference play at 6-12 and will meet Grambling State, last year's SWAC Tournament champion, as the Tigers swept the regular season series, including winning its most recently matchup, 67-51, this past Thursday. GSU has won five out of the past six meetings.
In the other first-round matchup, Florida A&M, the seventh seed, will meet 10
th-seeded Prairie View A&M.
Southern won the regular season crown and enter as the top seed, while Jackson State and Bethune-Cookman are the second and third seed, respectively. Texas Southern earned the fourth seed and Alabama State is the fifth seed.
The 2025 Starry SWAC Men's Basketball Tournament presented by Buick is scheduled to be played on March 11-15 at Gateway Center Arena located in Atlanta, Ga. All tournament games will be streamed on ESPN+.
