Jackson, Morris Collect Hits at UT Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. | Miles Jackson and Charles Morris collected one hit each as the Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped its midweek game, 16-2 in seven innings, on Tuesday afternoon to UT Martin at Skyhawk Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
Alabama A&M (8-20) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
 
With one down in the frame, Kylan Duncan was hit by a pitch and was replaced by Emmanuel Perez. Dre Amaral walked, and Charles Morris delivered the big hit, a single to left, scoring Perez and Amaral. 
 
UT Martin cut the deficit to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the frame.
 
The Skyhawks (11-18) struck for three runs in the second inning and 10 more in the third to take a 14-2 advantage. 
 
UT Martin put the game out of reach with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, extending the advantage to 16-2.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Alabama A&M finished with two runs on two hits, had one error and left three on base
  • Charles Morris and Miles Jackson collected one hit each
  • Raymond Clark (1-4) took the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) on four hits, with four walks and a pair of strikeouts in two innings
  • Jordan Nolley, Edgar Rodriguez and Nick Espinola worked out of the bullpen
  • UT Martin finished with 16 runs on 11 hits, committed one error and stranded seven on base
  • Anderson went 2-for-4, with four RBI and one run scored
  • Brody Capps, Arderrius Katsaboulas and Blaze Bell each added two hits
  • Brandon King (1-1) earned the win, giving up two runs (one earned) on just one hits, fanning six and walking two in four innings
  • Kaleb Baskin, Mason Shropshire and Jeb Bartle pitched in relief
 
UP NEXT  
Alabama A&M steps back into Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play this weekend with a three-game series at rival Alabama State. First pitch for the opener on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. from the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. Game 2 on Saturday is set for 6 p.m. and Sunday's series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m.
