BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced its 2025 men's tennis Tournament seedings where Alabama A&M University Men's Tennis team (7-11, 5-1 SWAC) claimed the No. 2 seed and thus earned a first round bye and automatically advanced to the semifinals round.
The Bulldogs have dropped just one conference match this season, dropping a 4-0 decision to rival Alabama State, who earned the No. 1 seed heading into the tournament. AAMU blanked PVAMU, Southern, Mississippi Valley and Alcorn State in conference play, and earned a thrilling 4-3 win over Jackson State. The Bulldogs earned a doubles point over Southeastern Conference opponent Auburn, and Agustin Marquez was the lone Bulldog to score in the match against the UAB Blazers.
The Bulldogs will play the winner of the Jackson State and PVAMU (which will be played Friday at 5 p.m.) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Jackson State claimed the No. 3 seed (4-2, SWAC) in the tournament followed by No. 4 seed Alcorn State (3-3, SWAC). Prairie View A&M (2-4, SWAC) and Southern (1-5, SWAC) claimed the final two tournament bids and will enter the tournament as the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds respectively.
The 2025 SWAC Men's Tennis Tournament is scheduled to be played on April 18-20 at City Park Tennis Center located in New Orleans, La. The quarterfinals round will begin on Friday, April 18 at 5:00 pm CST.
