Rutledge Selected to SWAC Postseason Second Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University outfielder Trey Rutledge was selected to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Postseason Team, the conference announced on Monday night.
 
Rutledge played in and started in 41 games for the Bulldogs this season. He is tops in the country and conference in on-base percentage (0.567), seventh in stolen bases per game, 16th in runs per game and 20th in stolen bases. The Irondale, Ala. native led Alabama A&M in batting (.397), runs scored (56), walks (37) and stolen bases (34-of-37). In addition, he registered 50 hits, including seven doubles, three triples and one home run, while driving in 13.
 
Florida A&M's Garrett Workman was named the SWAC's Freshman of the Year, while Southern's Cardell Thibodeaux earned SWAC Newcomer and Player of the Year honors. Eric Elliott, of Jackson State, was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year, while Jean Carlos Zambrando, of Bethune-Cookman, was selected the Relief Pitcher of the Year.
 
Alabama State's Juan Cruz and Bethune-Cookman's Andrey Martinez was tabbed the Co-Hitter of the Year, while BCU's Jonathan Hernandez was selected the Coach of the Year.
