TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Angel Rivera belted a three-run homer as the Alabama A&M University baseball team concluded its three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series on Sunday with a 15-5 loss in seven innings to Florida A&M at Moore-Kittles Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (10-35 overall, 2-22 SWAC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning.
Miles Jackson opened the game with a double to left but was out at third when
Isaac Castro reached on a fielder's choice.
Dre Amaral followed with a base hit to center and both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch.
Charles Morris brought Castro across with a single to left, giving AAMU the early lead.
However, Florida A&M (24-20, 18-6) responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame and added seven more runs in the second for a 9-1 advantage.
The Bulldogs picked up a run in the top of the third as Jackson, who led off with a double, scored on a Morris groundout, closing the gap to 9-2.
The Rattlers answers in the bottom of the inning with one run, pushing the lead to 10-2.
Alabama A&M cut the deficit to 10-5 in the fourth on a three-run homer by Rivera.
Back came FAMU in the bottom of the frame, scoring three runs and adding one more in the sixth for a 14-5 advantage.
The Rattlers sealed the game with one run in the seventh for the 15-5 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with five runs on 10 hits, committed three errors and left six on base

- Matthew Perez went 2-for-4, with a pair of RBI and one run scored
- Jay Campbell (2-0) started for the Rattlers, giving up five runs on seven hits, with three strikeouts in four innings
- Carson Kelly and Tanner Walker pitched in relief

Alabama A&M returns home for the final six games of the season, starting on Saturday, May 10 with a doubleheader against Southern. First pitch for the opener is set for 12 p.m. from the Bulldog Baseball Field.
