BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | For the second consecutive week, the Alabama A&M University women's soccer program had four student-athletes receive Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly honors, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Czaske Deane repeated as the SWAC's Offensive Player of the week, while
Moriah Watkins earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Madelyn Cornwell received back-to-back SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week accolades and
Brea Bailey shared Co-Newcomer of the Week honors with Prairie View A&M's Ashanti Hall.
Deane helped the Bulldogs with the game-winning goal in the 3-2 road victory over West Georgia last week. She scored the second and third goals, the last coming just two minutes after UWG had tied the game at 2.
Watkins, who played 85 of the 90 minutes, recorded an assist on Bailey's opening goal. She helped secure the backline in AAMU earning the road victory.
Cornwell registered six saves in 90 minutes for the Bulldogs, including making a diving stop in the final two minutes to preserve the Alabama A&M win.
Bailey, who came off the bench, notched the opening goal, giving Alabama A&M a 1-0 lead in the 34
th minute at West Georgia. She finished with two shots on target
Alabama A&M returns to action on Friday, Sept. 26 as the Bulldogs open SWAC play against Jackson State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Bulldog Soccer Field.
