ATLANTA, Ga. | Arnav Pathange finished third during the weekend at the HBCU Nationals held at the South Fulton Tennis Center.
Pathange, playing in the Men's A Draw, opened with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Bluefield State's Said Santin and advanced to the quarterfinals, defeating Federico Pieckenstainer, of Jackson State, 6-1, 7-6. In the semifinals, Nereo Suarez, of Xavier (La.), earned a 6-1, 6-1 win to end Pathange's run.
Also in the main draw,
Yin Chih Lan defeated Alcorn State's Fabian Juarez, 6-1, 6-3, but fell in the quarterfinals to Tennessee State's Taj Hibbert, 6-3, 6-2.
In the B Flight singles,
Juwan Bae beat Pranav Sirivella, of Bluefield State, 6-1, 6-0, to advance to the Round of 16, before falling to Martin Catrice, of Alabama State, 6-2, 4-6 (10-5).
Also in the B Flight, Eduardo De Benedictis fell to North Carolina Central's Tim Kohl, 7-5, 4-6 (10-5) in the Round of 32 and
Tasso Moreira beat Bluefield State's Alessandro Perez, 6-0, 6-1 in the Round of 16. However, Moreira fell to North Carolina Central's Rodrigo Alves in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 3-6 (10-1).
In the C Flight,
Lebogang Mashego knocked off Pablo Perez Terol, 6-4, 6-1, in the Round of 32, but dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Alejandro Pinilla in the Round of 16.
Goran Krivokapic advanced to the Round of 16 by beating Flor DeSitter, of Alabama State, 6-1, 7-6, and knocked off Pedro Maggi, of Xavier (La.) 7-6, 6-3, to move to the quarterfinals. Krivokapic beat Howard's Nathan Bermeo, 6-2, 6-1, in the quarters, but fell in the semifinals to Loris Gueli, of Alabama State, 7-6, 6-0.
Alabama A&M returns to action Oct. 3-4 by hosting the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Fall Tournament at the AAMU Tennis Courts.
