SUWANEE, Ga. | The Alabama A&M University men's golf team shot a second-round best 1-under-par 283 to finish second at the 40
th Annual Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Invitational on Tuesday at the Laurel Springs Golf Club.
The Bulldogs placed three golfers inside the Top 10, highlighted by the second-place performance of
Lukas Lange, who shot a second-round best of 4-under-par 67 and shared the spot with North Carolina Central's Jamal Hutchinson.
Both golfers nearly grabbed the top spot as North Carolina A&T's Camil Marin shot a 1-under 70 and won the individual medalist honors by one stroke.
Lange, who was four shots back of the leaders entering the final round, recorded five birdies and just one bogey during the second round. He carded a 1-under 35 on the front nine, but heated up on the back, shooting a 3-under 32.
Vincente Rodriguez and
Samuel Boddie finished tied for eighth, shooting 6-over 148s. Rodriguez was 2 over for the day, while Boddie, who entered the final round tied for 27
th, shot 1 under.
Kourey Patterson came from the back of the pack to finish tied for 28
th, shooting a final round 2-over-par 73.
Alabama A&M shot a two-round total of 588 to earn second as North Carolina A&T won the team title with a 581. North Carolina Central was third with a 593, followed by Arkansas-Pine Bluff (600), Chicago State (608), Southern (609), Jackson State (610) and Texas Southern (613) rounding out the field.
