HUMBLE, Texas | The Alabama A&M University women's bowling team went 3-2 during the opening day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) West Regional on Friday at AMF Diamond Lanes.
The Bulldogs (3-2) are fourth after the first day as Jackson State leads the eight-team field at 5-0. Prairie View A&M (4-1) and Southern (4-1) are tied for second. Alabama State (2-3), Florida A&M (1-4), Texas Southern (1-4) and Grambling State (0-5) round out the field.
Alabama A&M competed in five Baker matches during Friday's round as the Bulldogs began the day with a 996-468 victory over Grambling State. After a 938-868 setback to Texas Southern in the second match, AAMU bounced back and edged rival Alabama State, 864-863, before defeating Florida A&M, 815-800. The Bulldogs wrapped up the day with a 927-887 loss to Southern.
