Bulldogs to Begin Conference Slate at UAPB

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team begins its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) slate on Saturday when the Bulldogs visit Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip-off against the Golden Lions is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from H.O. Clemmons Arena and streamed on UAPB's YouTube Page.
 
Alabama A&M snapped a two-game losing streak on Tuesday as the Bulldogs had six players in double figures in a 9-58 victory over Fisk. 
 
Arkansas-Pine Bluff has not played a game since Dec. 17 and enters the conference matchup riding a two-game winning streak.
 
Alabama A&M at a Glance
Kintavious Dozier leads three AAMU players in double figures at 14.1 points, while Koron Davis and Sami Pissis is averaging 12.1 and 11.8 points, respectively.
 
The Bulldogs are registering 68.0 points per game and shooting just over 41 percent from the floor.
 
Alabama A&M ranks first in the conference in field goal percentage defense, defensive rebounds per game, scoring defense, three-point percentage defense and turnovers per game. 

Scouting the Golden Lions
Arkansas-Pine Bluff is shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and averaging 78.8 points per game.
 
Quion Williams, who is 26th in the country in assists per game, leads five UAPB players in double figures, averaging 17,2 points, 7.8 boards, 6.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Jaquan Scott (17.0), Anthony Sellars (15.5), Charles Milhan (15.5) and Trevon Payton (10.8) are also posting double figures.
 
The Golden Lions are tops in the conference in assists per game (66th nationally), and is second in numerous categories, including three-pointers per game, three-point attempts per game, rebounds per game, defensive rebounds per game, free-throw percentage and assist/turnover ratio.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 49th meeting between the two programs as Arkansas-Pine Bluff leads the all-time series, 26-22. However, the Bulldogs have won the last 10 meetings and have not dropped a contest to the Golden Lions since a 69-60 defeat on Feb. 11, 2019.
