Alabama A&M Continues Road Swing at TSU and PVAMU

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team closes out its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) road swing this weekend as the Bulldogs visit Texas Southern on Saturday and Prairie View A&M on Monday.
 
Tip-off for Saturday's game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from the H&PE Arena and streamed on HBCU GO, while Monday's game begins at 6 p.m. from the William J. Nicks Building and streamed on SWAC TV.
 
Alabama A&M comes into the weekend riding a two-game winning streak, including a 73-69 come-from-behind victory on Monday night against rival Alabama State in the Bridge Builder Classic.
 
Texas Southern, which is 3-4 this season at home, saw its two-game winning streak snapped on Monday night with a 94-89 road loss to Jackson State.
 
Prairie View A&M will play host to Alabama State on Saturday before welcoming AAMU to the William J. Nicks Building on Monday. The Panthers dropped back-to-back road games over the weekend, falling to Alcorn State and Jackson State.
 
Bulldogs at a Glance
Alabama A&M comes into the weekend averaging 70.7points and shooting 42.2 percent.
 
Kintavious Dozier leads three AAMU players in double figures at 15.7 points, while Koron Davis and Sami Pissis is averaging 12.9 and 12.4 points, respectively.

The Tigers are averaging nearly 73.0 points and shooting just over 44.0 percent from the floor. Troy Hupstead paces four TSU players in double figures at 15.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Bryce Roberts (13.0 points), Alex Anderson (10.5 points) and Zavier Hayes (10.4 points) also post double figures in scoring. 
 
Hupstead ranks tops in the conference - 34th nationally - in defensive rebounds per game and first in the SWAC and 40th in the country in rebounds per game.
 
Scouting Prairie View A&M
The Panthers are shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and averaging 81.6 points per game.
 
Tai'Reon Joseph leads three PVAMU players in double figures at 21.6 points, 3.0 boards and 1.4 steals. Dontae Hornet and Cory Wells are posting 15.8 points and 14.5 points, respectively.
 
Prairie View A&M leads the SWAC In numerous categories, including fastbreak points, free throw attempts per game, free throws made per game, scoring margin, scoring offense, turnover margin and turnovers forced per game.
 
Joseph is 28th in the country in points and leads the conference in three-point percentage and three pointers per game. Horne ranks 20th in the nation, and first in the SWAC, in steals.
 
Texas Southern Series History
This will be the 45th meeting between the Tigers and Bulldogs as Texas Southern leads the all-time series, 36-8.
 
The Tigers have won 22 straight games against the Bulldogs, with the last Alabama A&M victory coming on Feb. 1, 2014 – a 63-62 win in Huntsville.
 
Prairie View A&M Series History
This will be the 43rd meeting between the two programs as Prairie View A&M leads the all-time series, 23-19.
 
The Panthers have won 11 out of their last 13 matchups against the Bulldogs. However, AAMU defeated PVAMU, 98-82 last season in Huntsville. The last road victory over Prairie View A&M came in 2014 (72-65).
