BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's bowlers
Rose Ugbinada and
Michele Westmoreland were chosen to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Second Team, the conference announced on Thursday morning.
Ugbinada played in 28 matches during the SWAC East and West Regionals, logging a 5,170 pins. She averaged a 184.6 pintfall, while rolling nine 200-plus games, including posting a high of 269.
Westmoreland also played in 28 matches, recording 5,135 pins and averaging a 183.3 pinfall. She rolled seven 200-plus games, including a high of 244.
Jackson State had three bowlers selected to the first team – Paige Hubert, Tiara Henderson and Faith Washington. Alabama State's Jenna Knight and Texas Southern's Zaniya McClain also earned first-team honors.
Joining Ugbinada and Westmoreland on the All-SWAC Second Team were Southern's Maria Molina Diaz and Alabama State's Taylor Lee and Olivia Miller.
Hubert was chosen the SWAC Bowler of the Year, while McClain was named Freshman of the Year. JSU's Michael Boykins was selected the SWAC Coach of the Year.
Alabama A&M returns to the lanes this weekend as the Bulldogs will compete in the Southern Queens at the All-Star Lanes in Baton Rouge, La.
