MURFREESBORO, Tenn. | Wilmer Cuevas and
Tarris Murray each collected two hits as the Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped its midweek game to Middle Tennessee State, 19-2 in seven innings, on Tuesday afternoon at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
The Bulldogs (0-4) struck first in the opening inning.
Zak Rice reached, and
Keilon Parnell drew a walk before
Brycen Hammonds also worked a free pass to load the bases. Murray followed with a single to left, and
Miles Jackson delivered an RBI groundout to plate Parnell and give Alabama A&M a 1-0 lead.
Middle Tennessee (3-1) responded with a 10-run bottom of the first, collecting eight hits in the frame to seize control of the game. The Blue Raiders added one in the third, two in the fourth and six more in the fifth to extend the lead to 19-2.
Alabama A&M picked up its second run in the fourth inning.
Isaac Castro was hit by a pitch and Cuevas followed with a single to left. After Parnell walked to load the bases, Hammonds was hit by a pitch to force in Castro and trim the deficit to 11-2 .
Cuevas paced the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, while Murray added a pair of hits. Jackson drove in one of AAMU's two runs.
On the mound,
Antonio Torres (0-1) was charged with the loss as seven pitchers saw action in Tuesday's game.

Alabama A&M continues its road slate this weekend at the Maestri Classic in New Orleans, La. The Bulldogs will play host New Orleans at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by an 11.am. contest against ULM on Sunday and wrap up play with an 11 a.m. game against Grambling State.
