TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team picked up a commanding 57-37 victory over Florida A&M University Athletics on Thursday night at the Al Lawson Center, extending the Bulldogs' winning streak in Southwestern Athletic Conference play to 13 straight games.
Alabama A&M (17-9 overall, 13-1 SWAC) overcame an early deficit to grab control of the contest, outscoring the Rattlers behind a balanced offensive attack and suffocating defense. The Bulldogs sprinted ahead with pressure on both ends and never looked back, maintaining a double-digit lead through every quarter.
Kalia Walker led the way with 24 points, adding four rebounds, one assists and three steals.
Aniya Palmer posted a double-double 13 points and grabbed 10 boards, while
Coriah Beck came through on both ends of the court with nine points and eight rebounds.
Florida A&M (7-17, 6-7) was led by Tahnyjia Purifoy, who finished with 11 points, four rebounds and one steal. Miya Giles-Jones added eight points and 10 boards in the match-up.
The Bulldogs set the tone with aggressive defensive pressure that forced turnovers and turned them into easy baskets. Alabama A&M's rebounding and efficiency in transition helped build a substantial lead before the midway point, and the margin continued to grow as the game progressed.
In the second half, balanced scoring and contributions from the bench kept the Bulldogs rolling en route to the 30-point victory, highlighting AAMU's depth and execution on both ends of the floor.
