DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team earned a 55-43 road victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday at Moore Gymnasium, improving to 18-9 overall and 14-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play.

Alabama A&M (18-9 overall, 14-1 SWAC) overcame an early first-quarter deficit and seized control in the second half, closing the game on a dominant 20-point fourth quarter to secure the 12-point win.Â

After trailing 11-8 at the end of the first, the Bulldogs settled in defensively and used timely free-throw shooting and paint production to shift momentum.

Jaida Belton led the way with 18 points on an efficient 8-of-9 shooting from the field while adding nine rebounds .

Aniya Palmer contributed 11 points and nine rebounds, impacting the game on both ends, while Rakiyah Beal added 10 points. The Bulldogs dominated inside, scoring 32 points in the paint and converting 27 points off turnovers .

Bethune-Cookman (6-22 overall, 4-11 SWAC) was led by Alexandria Johnson with eight points, while Daimoni Dorsey and Mya Johnson added six points each while Tyler Butler obtained 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

The Bulldogs' defensive pressure proved to be the difference, forcing 21 Wildcat turnovers and turning those opportunities into transition scoring. Alabama A&M shot 80.8 percent from the free-throw line and outscored Bethune-Cookman 20-12 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.Â

In the final minutes, disciplined execution at the line and balanced contributions from the bench helped seal the conference road victory, highlighting AAMU's depth and defensive intensity as the postseason approaches.
