THE HILL | Alabama A&M women's basketball protected home court on Saturday afternoon, earning a 51-43 victory over Alabama State at the AAMU Event Center to improve to 19-9 overall and 15-1 in the SWAC. With the victory, Alabama A&M continues its strong conference run and winning streak of 15 straight games.

The Bulldogs held the Hornets to just 26.8 percent shooting from the field and limited Alabama State to single-digit scoring in both the first and third quarters, using defensive pressure to maintain control throughout the contest.Â

Alabama A&M built momentum in the third period, outscoring Alabama State 13-8 to create separation before closing strong in the fourth behind steady free throw shooting, converting 12-of-13 attempts in the final frame.

Jaida Belton led the Bulldogs with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Kamiyha Griffin added 10 points off the bench on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting performance, also reaching a new career high.Â

Aniya Palmer chipped in eight points and eight rebounds, helping Alabama A&M dominate inside with 28 points in the paint.

The Bulldogs also capitalized on turnovers, converting Alabama State miscues into 24 points to maintain their edge throughout the heated match up.Â
