JOHNSON CITY, AL | Alabama A&M softball battled throughout Saturday's doubleheader but ultimately fell in both contests to East Tennessee State at Betty Basler Field. The Bulldogs are now 12-7 overall on their season.
In game one, the Alabama A&M struck early, plating two runs in the opening before adding another in the second to take a 3-2 lead. Akyndra Montalvo paced the offense with a two-hit performance, while Jaliyah Grigsby and Ariana Montiel each delivered RBI efforts to help Alabama A&M build the early advantage.
The Bucs answered late in the game, using a two-run sixth inning to claim the lead and secure a 4-3 victory. Kaylee Tatum went the distance on the mound for the Bulldogs, recording four strikeouts across six innings of work.
In the second game, the Bulldogs were held offensively despite strong defensive efforts and solid pitching.. Paula Oscropoma led the Bulldogs at the plate with two hits, accounting for two of Alabama A&M's three total hits in the game.
East Tennessee State capitalized in the third inning, scoring twice and holding off the Bulldogs the rest of the way for a 2-0 decision. McKenna Furnari started in the circle, while Josefina Lacalle provided 3.2 scoreless innings to keep the game within reach. Unfortunately the Bulldogs were not able to secure the victory.

Alabama A&M will remain on the road and head to Tuskegee, Alabama to play a doubleheader against Tuskegee on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
