BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University softball team was selected 10th in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) baseball predicted order of finish, the conference announced on Monday.
The Bulldogs garnered 65 points and was selected 10
th as Bethune-Cookman, the defending SWAC Tournament champions, received 12 first-place votes and 209 points to earn the top spot. Florida A&M was second with 185 points, followed by Alabama State (178 points), Grambling State (143 points), Jackson State (141 points), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (136 points), Southern (118 points), Texas Southern (84 points) and Prairie View A&M (70 points). Alcorn State (38 points) and Mississippi Valley State (37 points) rounded out the 12-team voting.
Alabama A&M opens the season on Friday in the MLB HBCU Power Series as the Bulldogs take on Texas Southern at 11 a.m. in Pearl, Miss. AAMU concludes the opening weekend against Jackson State on Saturday and Grambling State on Sunday.
