THE HILL | Miles Jackson went 3-for-5, with a run scored, but it wasn't enough as the Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series finale to Jackson State, 13-5, on Sunday at the Bulldog Baseball Field.

Alabama A&M (9-36 overall, 3-18 SWAC) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as
Miles Jackson, who began the frame with a double to left, scored on a single by
Brycen Hammonds, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Jackson State (19-23, 9-12) tied the game at 1 in the top of the second only to see AAMU answer in the bottom half of the inning as
Keondre Fields, who doubled to left to start the frame, scored on a wild pitch, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage.

The Tigers responded in the third by scoring eight runs on six hits and took advantage of an error to grab a 9-2 lead.

JSU added one run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to extend the lead to 13-3.

Alabama A&M battled back in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs.

Hammonds drew a walk to begin the inning and advanced to second on a
Tarris Murray infield hit.
Zak Rice followed with a double to left, which scored Hammonds and Murray came across on a sacrifice fly to right, closing the gap to 13-5.

Alabama A&M collected 11 hits, with Jackson, Murray and Rice recording a combined seven hits.

William Tarpley (0-4) took the loss as he surrendered six runs on seven hits, with a pair of walks and one strikeout in two innings.

Derek Arrocha (4-4) picked up the win as he gave up five runs on nine hits, fanned five and walked five in six innings. Trae Burton worked the final three innings in relief to earn the save.
