BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Keondre Fields belted a home run and drove in three runs, but it wasn't enough as the Alabama A&M University dropped a 6-4 decision to Samford on Tuesday night at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
Samford (6-9) plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 2-0 lead.
However, Alabama A&M (5-13) answered in the third on the three-run homer by Fields, giving the Maroon & White a 3-2 lead.
Sanford tied the game in the bottom of the frame and took a 4-3 advantage with a run in the fourth before adding two more in the fifth for the 6-3 lead.
AAMU got a run back in the sixth when
Miles Jackson plated
Chris Walker to close the gap to 6-4.
Jackson and
Tervell Johnson each recorded six hits, while
Zak Rice, Fields, Walker and
Devante Wells registered one hit.
Evan Hurlburt started for Alabama A&M, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

Bryce Dolce,
Terence Sales and
Raymond Clark pitched in relief.
