MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Amya Joy leads the field through four rounds in the women's heptathlon to highlight the first day of action for the Alabama A&M University men's and women's track and field teams at the Montevallo Falcon Classic at the UM Track & Field/Lacrosse Stadium.
Joy took first in the 100m hurdles and high jump, while second in the shot put and third in the 200m. She has logged 2,688 points and leads the field by 300 points.
In the men's long jump, it was a clean sweep for the Bulldogs, taking the top three spots.
Justin Walker claimed gold, with a jump of 7.43m, while
Joshua Graham and
Cameron Andrews were second and third, respectively, at 7.28m and 7.24m. Teammate Andre Jones placed ninth.
On the women's side,
Amber Jamison finished third, with a mark of 5.62m, while
Lanaisha Lubin was fifth, posting a leap of 5.59m and
Mariah Lofton finished sixth at 5.40m.
In the discus,
Leah Brown won bronze, recording a throw of 40.75m and
Karley Malveo was sixth at 36.40m.
