MONTGOMARY, Ala. | The Alabama A&M women's tennis team continued its dominant conference run with a 4-0 sweep over Alcorn State on Sunday at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
Alabama A&M controlled the match from the start, earning the doubles point before securing three straight singles victories to clinch the shutout.
The Bulldogs opened strong in doubles play, picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Gabrielle Henderson and Sofia Sotelo Raya rolled to a (6-0) victory at No. 2, while Melissa Mwakha and Tstitsi Mahere followed with a (6-3) win at No. 3 to give Alabama A&M the early edge.
In singles competition, Alabama A&M continued to dominate. Sofia Sotelo Raya led the way with a commanding (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 3 singles, while Melissa Mwakha added another point with a strong (6-2, 6-4) victory at No. 4.
Lavynia Vieira de Sa sealed the match for the Bulldogs with a (6-1, 6-3) win at No. 6 singles, securing the team's seventh consecutive SWAC victory.
With several matches left unfinished, Alabama A&M's depth and consistency proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten in conference play.
