DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Alabama A&M softball battled through a tough doubleheader on the road, falling 3-1 in game one and 12-0 in game two to Bethune-Cookman on Saturday at Sunnyland ParkĀ
The Bulldogs showed fight in the opener, keeping things within reach throughout. Bethune-Cookman pushed across single runs in each of the first three innings, but AAMU stayed composed and continued to generate opportunities at the plate. In the fifth inning, Mariah Solorio delivered an RBI single to score Destiny King, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Alabama A&M threatened late but was unable to capitalize, finishing with six hits in the contest. Paula Ocrospoma led the way with a pair of hits, while Kaylee Tatum turned in a strong complete-game effort in the circle, limiting the Wildcats to just three runs over six inningsĀ
In game two, Alabama A&M continued to compete despite an early deficit. The Bulldogs put runners on and looked to build momentum in the middle innings, highlighted by a multi-hit performance from Josefina Lacalle, who accounted for two of AAMU's three hits. However, Bethune-Cookman capitalized on early scoring opportunities and used a big third inning to extend its lead to secure the 12-0 win.Ā
