THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University baseball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday as the Bulldogs concluded their home campaign with a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) doubleheader loss to Florida A&M, falling, 6-2 in the opener, and dropping the second game, 10-3, at the Bulldog Baseball Field.

GAME 1 - Florida A&M 6, Alabama A&M 2
In the opener, Florida A&M jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the middle of the second inning before Alabama A&M closed the gap to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the second when
KJ Stanfield brought in
Isaac Castro with a triple to right.

However, the Rattlers (24-22 overall, 19-8 SWAC) plated three runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth for a 6-1 advantage.

The Bulldogs (10-41, 4-23) got a run back in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough in falling 6-2.
Â
Anthony Mateo (4-5) took the loss, surrendering six runs on 10 hits, fanned one and walked one in six innings.
Antonio Torres worked the seventh in relief.

Caleb Granger (6-3) picked up the win in four innings of work. He gave up one run on four hits, struck out six and walked three, while Tanner Walker earned his second save by working the final three innings.

GAME 2 – Florida A&M 10, Alabama A&M 3
In the nightcap, Florida A&M jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added two more runs in the second for a 5-0 advantage.

Alabama A&M closed the gap to 5-3 with three runs in the bottom of the second.

Zak Rice opened the frame with a double to left and with one down, Castro ripped a double to plate Rice.
Tervell Johnson followed with a two-run homer as the Bulldogs pulled to within two runs.

The Rattlers extended the advantage to 7-3 with one run in the fifth and seventh innings.
Â
Florida A&M put the game away in the top half of the ninth as Colton Ryals smacked a three-run homer to push the lead to 10-3.

Virgil Heath (0-4) took the loss, giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits, with four strikeouts and two walks in six innings.

Antonio Torres worked out of the bullpen.

Garrett Workman (4-4) earned the victory as he surrendered three runs on six hits and fanned three in five innings. Jesus Campa worked the final four innings in relief.

Alabama A&M concludes the regular season May 14-16 at Southern. First pitch for the series opener against the Jaguars on May 14 is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Lee-Hines Stadium.
