MIAMI, Fla. | The Alabama A&M volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday, falling to Jacksonville in four sets before suffering a five-set setback against FIU at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
The Bulldogs opened the day with a 3-1 loss to Jacksonville, with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 14-25 and 20-25.
After dropping the opening set, Alabama A&M responded with its strongest offensive performance of the match. The Bulldogs recorded 17 kills and hit .429 in the second frame to even the match with a 25-21 victory. Jacksonville regained control by taking the final two sets.
Rayishon Jackman paced AAMU with 14 kills on a .355 hitting percentage while adding nine digs. Carys Sanabria finished with a career high of 10 kills and hit .444, while Cherrish Robinson contributed seven kills on nine attempts for a team-high .556 hitting percentage.
Kaydee Smith distributed 19 assists, while Briana Smith added 17. Kelani Talakai led the defensive effort with 11 digs.
Alabama A&M returned to the court later Friday and pushed host FIU to five sets before falling 3-2. The Panthers claimed the match by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 20-25 and 17-15.

The fifth set featured four ties and three lead changes before FIU escaped with a 17-15 victory.
Nhya Morgan led Alabama A&M with a match and career high of 17 kills, a .297 hitting percentage and three solo blocks. Jackman recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs while adding two service aces.
Robinson chipped in six kills while hitting .444. Briana Smith finished with 21 assists and 16 digs, while Kaydee Smith supplied 20 assists and seven digs. Talakai added 11 digs as the Bulldogs finished with 10 total blocks.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, against Central Michigan at the FIU Invite in Miami. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
