RUSTON, LA. | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team battled Grambling State University to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
The Bulldogs controlled possession for much of the opening half, holding a 68-percent possession advantage while putting four shots toward the Grambling State goal. Alabama A&M also recorded three shots on target during the opening 45 minutes.
Goalkeeper Adriana Durango played all 90 minutes between the posts, making four saves to preserve the shutout. Grambling State goalkeeper Alina Arneth also recorded a clean sheet with six saves.
Alabama A&M continued to apply pressure in the second half, generating seven shots. Czaske Deane led the Bulldogs offensively with five shots, including two on target. Amelia Barber, Moriah Watkins and Ryan McLemore each recorded a shot on target.
The Bulldogs had an opportunity to break the deadlock in the 57th minute when Méghane St-Cyr stepped to the spot for a penalty kick, but her attempt was saved.
Alabama A&M finished the match with an 11-6 advantage in shots and held a 54-percent possession edge. The Bulldogs also earned one corner kick.
The scoreless draw marked Alabama A&M's first SWAC result of the season, with both teams moving to 0-0-1 in conference play.
