Men's Basketball Boasts Seven Signees

Three junior college players highlight newcomers

Alabama A&M head men's basketball coach Vann Pettaway announced that seven future Bulldogs have signed national letters of intent to play for A&M beginning in the 2009-10 season. Six of the seven players are 6-6 or taller. Pettaway is excited about the upcoming recruiting class and said they achieved their recruiting goals by signing "fire and experience."

The Bulldogs welcome four high school players that will add height to guard position. Maurice Kemp is a 6-6 perimeter player from Miami, Fla. He averaged 26 points and 11 boards for Miami Dade Christian H.S. He chose Alabama A&M over Central Florida and Florida International.

Khiry White is a 6-2 guard from Columbus, Ga. He averaged 17 points and five rebounds per outing for Shaw H.S. White chose to continue his playing career at A&M over Western Carolina and instate SWAC foe Alabama State.

Isaiah Massey is a 6-7 guard/forward from Union Grove H.S. in McDonough, Ga. He averaged a double-double - finishing his season averaging 17 points and 12 boards. Massey chose to play for the Bulldogs over UAB and Charlotte.

Adam Young is a 6-8 power forward from Las Vegas, Nev. He attended Edison Academy Prep and averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds. Young signed with A&M over Southern and Delaware State.

The newcomers are highlighted by three junior college players. Bo Amusa, Marquis Whitt, and Alfred Frayer will add height and experience to the squad. Amusa is a 6-6 guard/power forward from Grayson, Ga. The Bevill State C.C. graduate averaged nearly a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds per game. Whitt is a 6-9 power forward/center from Brown Mackie C.C. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native averaged eight points and six rebounds. Frayer, who stands at 6-10 and 250 pounds, is the biggest signee this year for A&M. He hails from Charleston, S.C. and attended Brunswick C.C., where he averaged six points and five rebounds a night.
