The Alabama A&M women's basketball team dropped a 53-39 decision to the Lady Braves of Alcorn State in Mississippi on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs, who had a season-low 15 first half points, were unable to get things going on the offensive end as they struggled to connect on shots. A&M controlled the boards however, outrebounding the Lady Braves 30-27. A&M falls to 9-14 overall and 7-6 in the SWAC and will travel to Baton Rouge to face Southern on Monday Feb. 23 beginning at 2 p.m.
Katrich led all A&M scorers with nine points. Whiquitta Tobar tallied eight points. Erica Thompson led the Bulldogs on the boards with a career-high five rebounds.
For the Lady Braves, Iyanna Brown had a game-best 15 points. Amanda Davidson recorded 10 points and six boards. Ashley Hawkins chipped in with seven points and three boards. Alcorn improves to 4-23 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
Neither team shot well from the floor as Alcorn finished with a 39 percent clip and A&M connected on 14-of-41 hoops for a 34.1 percentage.
The Bulldogs will play Southern on Monday for a 2 p.m. tip.
