Box Score / The Alabama A&M women's basketball team swept the season series over Texas Southern with a 52-40 victory over the Tigers at Elmore Gym on Sat. Feb. 28. Katrich Williams led all scorers with a game-best 14 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. Ashleonte Samuel tallied 12 points and eight boards. The Bulldogs will play their home game finale against Prairie View on Monday March 2 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The first half was a low scoring affair as A&M held an 18-8 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play. The Bulldogs pushed the margin to 38-26 with 6:10 remaining in regulation. The Tigers came to within seven, 40-33, of a free throw by Inisha Daughtry. Texas Southern could not get closer than that for the rest of the game as A&M pushed the spread back to double digits.
For TSU, Camille Parks and Jasmine Cannon recorded nine points apiece. Brandi Justice chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.
A&M held a 38-33 advantage on the glass over Texas Southern. The Bulldogs were 87.5 percent from the stripe as they converted 28-of-32 attempts.
Alabama A&M will host Prairie View for its last home game of the season. The game is slated for 5:30 p.m.
