LaDale Hayes homered twice, scored twice, and drove in three runs to lead Alabama A&M to a 10-9 win Saturday over rival Alabama State in the final game of a three-game series at Bulldog Field. The Hornets won the first two games of the series, 9-3 and 15-8 on Friday. The win snaps an eight-game losing streak for the Bulldogs and evens their record in the SWAC at 4-4 and lifts them to 6-9 overall.

The Hornets scored eight times in the fifth inning to open up a 15-5 lead and held on to win on Saturday as the game was suspended due to darkness on Friday with one inning to play. Chris Hernandez took the loss for A&M giving up 11 runs, eight earned, in 4.1 innings. Hayes homered for the Bulldogs and collected two hits along with Jerard Thomas for A&M.

Hayes homered twice, but was joined offensively by Alton Ellison, who homered and doubled twice, driving in three runs. A.J. Campbell worked 4.2 innings in relief and gave up just one run earning the victory. The Hornets took an 8-6 lead into the bottom of the fifth when Ellison and Hayes opened the inning with solo shots to tie the game. Ellison's double in the sixth drove in the final two runs the Bulldogs to give them the lead 10-8. Grant Mattix recorded the final out to get the save.
