ALCORN STATE, Miss. - Box Score / Alabama A&M dug itself a huge first half hole Monday at Alcorn State and never recovered as the Braves handed the Bulldogs their second straight loss, 59-45. A&M committed 22 first half turnovers and scored just 16 points as Alcorn built a 29-16 halftime lead. The lead never slipped below double digits for the remainder of the game.
For the game, Alabama A&M committed 35 turnovers, shot just 50 percent from the freethrow line (9-18), and missed all seven attempts from behind the three-point arc. The league's leading scorer, Katrich Williams, was held to single digits for the second straight game, scoring just eight points.
Whiquitta Tobar led the Bulldogs with 15 points and six assists. She added seven rebounds. Shaurice Miller tallied a career high nine rebounds to lead A&M on the glass.
The Bulldogs fall to 8-8 overall and 4-3 in the SWAC with the loss. A&M will play host to league-leading Prairie View on Saturday, January 30 at 4:00 p.m.
