Alabama A&M opened its 2010 baseball season with a weekend sweep over Tuskegee, 5-3 on Saturday and 11-1 on Sunday at Bulldog Field. The Bulldog pitching staff was stellar throughout the series. Three A&M pitchers combined for a two-hitter Sunday. The A&M offense scored seven runs in the first inning Sunday as the Bulldogs cruised to the sweep.
Game 1 - AAMU 5, Tuskegee 3
A.J. Campbell worked 5.2 innings and gave up just one earned run to earn the victory in relief. Deon Hall was 3-4 with a double and two RBI in his Bulldog debut. Kency Duarte and Lamar Bridges each collected two hits on the afternoon. Chris Hernandez got the start on the mound and gave up one run and just two hits in 3.1 innings of work.
Game 2 - AAMU 11, Tuskegee 1
Alabama A&M exploded for seven first-inning runs, and Manny Lora worked 6.1 innings in his first start to get the win on the bump. He struck out 11 and walked just one. The run he gave up was unearned. Bridges led the offense with three hits, including a double and two RBI. Ronquis Jefferson had two base hits.
