Baseball Rolls Kentucky State to Open Series

Bats come alive in doubleheader sweep

Box Scores - AAMU 16, KSU 6 (G1)  /  AAMU 11, KSU 5 (G2)
Alabama A&M opened its six-game weekend homestand with a high-scoring doubleheader sweep over Kentucky State on Friday, 16-6 in game one and 11-5 in game two.  In each game, the Bulldogs spotted the Thorobreds an early lead only to come storming back and gain two victories.  The wins push A&M to 4-0 on the season with two more games against KSU scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Bulldog Field.

Game 1 - Alabama A&M 16, Kentucky State 6
Davion Rucker had two hits and drove in four runs for the Bulldogs. Diego Lopez and Kevin Rodriguez each had two hits as well. Lopez scored three runs and drove in two more on the day.  As a team, Alabama A&M stole 13 bases. Juan Flores (1-0) picked up the win working 2.1 innings in relief.

Game 2 - Alabama A&M 11, Kentucky State 5
Rucker collected three more hits, as did Lamar Bridges as A&M rallied for six runs in the third inning and three more runs in the fifth.  The game was halted after five innings due to darkness with A&M earning the victory.  Kency Duarte and LaDale Hayes each drove in three runs for the Bulldogs. Sanchez Tucker earned his first career victory on the mound.
