Alabama A&M remained unbeaten Saturday as the Bulldogs completed a four-game sweeep of Kentucky State, 8-4 and 6-5, at Bulldog Field. The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 on the season and won their first extra-inning game on the season in game two of the doubleheader. Saturday's wins gives A&M a better start than the 2007 squad that began the season 4-0.
Game 1 - Alabama A&M 8, Kentucky State 4
The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first inning and hung on for the victory. A.J. Campbell went 5.0 innings and gave up four runs on six hits in earning his second victory of the season. Juan Flores picked up his first save of the season. LaDale Hays and Deon Hall each tallied two hits.
Game 2 - Alabama A&M 6, Kentucky State (8 inn.)
Alabama A&M rallied for a run in the seventh and then won the game in the eighth when Ronquis Jefferson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Bulldogs let a 4-1 lead slip away as KSU scored two runs in each sixth and seventh innings. Hayes earned the victory on the mound and had two hits to lead the offense.
