Okie State Takes Decisive Game in Series

Single inning haunts A&M's upset bid

STILLWATER, Okla.  /  Box Score  /  Alabama A&M's bid to upset Oklahoma State for a second time in two days came up one inning short as the Cowboys scored four times in the bottom half of the fourth inning and took the decisive game of the the three-game set, 4-0.  Neither team mounted much offensive punch as both the Bulldogs and the Cowboys collected five hits on the afternoon.  Chris Hernandez was effective most of the day on the mound for A&M, but two walks and a wild pitch helped fuel the only half inning that saw any scoring in the game.

Hernandez went 6.0 innings in the start and gave up just four hits, but walked seven. The loss drops his record to 2-2. Manny Lora worked the final 2.0 innings in scoreless relief and gave up just one hit.

A&M had its best chance to score and take the lead in the top of the first inning. With one out, LaDale Hayes doubled and stole third, and Kency Duarte reached via a walk. Deon Hall and Charles McKay both struck out to end the inning and the most serious Bulldog threat of the afternoon.

Alabama A&M is now 11-11 overall and returns to SWAC play at home this weekend for a crucial matchup with Jackson State. The Bulldogs are 0-5 in league play. First pitch at Bulldog Field is at noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
