Lady Bulldogs Edge Jackson State 66-62

NORMAL -- The Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs Southwestern Athletic Conference win streak extends to two games, as A&M defeated the Tigers of Jackson State 66-62, on Thursday evening at the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

Junior guard Whiquitta Tobar led all scorers with 16 points while grabbing eight boards.  After the first half ended, with the score favoring the Lady Bulldogs 30-21, the Lady Tigers would go on to outscore their opponent 41-36 in the second half of play.  For the game, JSU shot a dismal 36% from the field (21-57) while turning the ball over 10 times.

The Lady Bulldogs did not fare much better in the turnover department amassing 18 of their own.  Besides the strength of Tobar’s 12 second half points, the Lady Bulldogs would control the tempo by out rebounding JSU 55 to 29.

The Maroon and White also got solid performances from freshman forward Jasmine Sanders and junior forward Clarissa Moore who finished with nine and eight points, respectively. Moore led the Maroon & White with nine rebounds, a season high.

The Lady Tigers were led by Ayanna Hardy-Fuller's 14 points and five rebounds, while Kiana McCarty added 13 points. JSU falls to 2-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

A&M hits the road for their first pair of conference contests. First up is the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University on Saturday, January 8. Game time is set for 2 pm.
