NORMAL – The Alabama A&M baseball team slipped by the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University 10-9 in non-conference action on “The Hill” today.
The Bulldogs (2-13) were led at the plate by James Brown who went 3 for 5 with three runs and two RBI’s. Sanchez Tucker picked up his first win of the year after going six innings giving up four hits and striking out three after facing 24 batters.
A&M scored nine runs in the first six innings taking a 9-0 lead. In the top of the seventh James Brown entered the game and gave up six hits resulting in six runs. Eric Brandon then entered the game in the top of the ninth but gave up three hits on three runs tying the score 9-9 going into the bottom of the ninth. With bases loaded right-fielder Deon Hall stepped into the batter’s box and connected on a single to score Norbert Riggins giving the Maroon & White their second victory of the season.
Tuskegee’s Cash Oliver finished the game 3 of 5 with two runs and a run batted in.
Alabama A&M will welcome the Alcorn State University Braves to their first three-game SWAC series on Saturday, March 19th and Sunday, March 20th. Game time is set for noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
