Bulldogs in the Hunt with Victory over State; Jackson State Games Rescheduled

NORMAL – The Alabama A&M baseball team won the third and final game versus in state rival Alabama State University 15-11 to maintain their chances to advance to the SWAC post season tournament.

A&M (9-31, 5-16) lost the first two contest of the three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern division series 15-1 and 2-1 after being away from the diamond for 10 days.

In the final game which saw four lead changes, the Bulldogs totaled 40 at bats, 15 runs, 14 hits and 13 runs batted in. Third basemen James Brown led the team at the plate going 2 for 4 with three runs. Right-fielder Deon Hall finished the game 2 for 6 with a run and a RBI.

The Maroon & White league games with Jackson State University have been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 10, at 5 and 7:30 p.m. at the Hazel Green high school baseball field. The final game of the series will take place at noon on Wednesday, May 11 at the A&M baseball field.  

Seniors Kency Duarte, Demarcus Steward, Joseph Bryant and Kenny Kiser will be recognized before the game as they will be playing their final contests on “The Hill”.

With the victory over Alabama State the Maroon & White will need to win the series versus Jackson State in order to earn the fourth and final spot in the Eastern division to advance to the post season tournament.
