Bulldog Indoor track opens season at Ed Temple Classic

NORMAL -- The Alabama A&M University men and women's track and field teams’ jump started the 2012 season on Saturday by participating in the Ed Temple Classic held on the Wilma Rudolph Track inside the Gentry Center on the campus of Tennessee State University.

AAMU competed against nine other teams which included Tennessee State, Austin Peay, Chattahoochee Tech, Florida A&M, Jackson State, Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee, Savannah State, and Western Kentucky.

Head coach Kim Seals named her most valuable performers.  Shaquina Phalo placed second in the collegiate division of the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.41.  Donte' McDaniel finished fifth in the 55 meter hurdles in the collegiate division with a 7.67 time.

Freshman sensation Marion Epperson placed sixth in the shot put with her longest throw of 11.84 meters and a weight throw of 11.72 meters to earn herself a seventh place finish.

Next up, AAMU will head to Birmingham, Alabama where they will compete in the Birmingham Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham, January 26.
